Trivium’s latest triumph, The Crusade, drops October 10th through Roadrunner Records and is an album that blows away many new releases in metal’s current stable of bands. Crusade follows their radically successful release of Ascendancy and is an impressive follow-up for Trivium who we saw recently as one of the headliners at this year’s Download U.K., billed as the biggest rock festival in the world.
The band has often been called the new Metallica and the influence shines brightly within the tracks on this offering, beginning with the blistering “Ignition” and ending with the crushing title track “The Crusade.” While the influence is there, this is no replica band, and their music is full of unique masterpieces and furious solos. I have to say, it’s about time someone delved back into this era of music. Metallica might have done it first but Trivium have become masters of the genre. Catch the band touring later this year first on a headlining U.S. tour and later with the mighty Iron Maiden. You can also check them out online at www.trivium.org.
